Hi.

I'm Heather - lifestyle photographer & homeschooling mama. We choose simple and slow. Freedom and fresh air. And I like to make things beautiful.

Let’s be friends?

October | 2014

As Anne of Green Gables said, "I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers."
October, you are my favorite.
The cool, the colors, the unabashedly frequent trips to Starbucks for a salted caramel mocha are just downright perfect.
We're been enjoying our last month as a family of 3.
Here are a few of my favorite things from last month...

I am my Gramma Alice - can't walk into a fabric store now without snatching up fat quarters like I'll never see them again.
I don't even know what project I'll use these for, but I had to have them anyway...

Alice & my boots this year (see post here)

scored a wooden track at the Thrift Shop for $2!
Alice is absolutely in love with her hand-me-down trains from friends

Enjoying a nutella/strawberry crepe, a caramel apple crepe with ice cream, and a cinnamon and sugar crepe from My Crepes in Omaha. They are glorious. Highly recommend this place.

"new" artwork

I bought this print ages ago from an artist in London but never had the right frame for it. Then I found this little one at the Thrift Shop for $5! It had some chips in the paint, so I re-painted in gold, took out one of the mats and fit in the print. Ta-da! Something new for Alice's room.

Speaking of magic gold spray paint, I use this stuff for everything.

Got some new mascara from 100% Pure (slowly switching to all organic products) and I decided the tube it came in would make a perfect spyglass! Popped off the ends, spray painted it outside, and there you have it - a spyglass. Now we have 2!

Saturday morning hot chocolate for three
We like to make ours on the stove with whole milk and whipped-in sea salt hot chocolate powder (and sometimes Nutella ;D)

Alice's Halloween costume all started with this little $2 dance leotard from Goodwill. More pictures below!
p.s. Alice LOVES her "Marty blanket" - thank you, Aunt Sarah!

got some color inspiration from the latest Anthropologie catalog

Alice would draw something and tell me what it was, and then I would finish it
Apple, peach, and pear!

I will probably keep this one forever

Took our Alice on a date - our last as a threesome - to Target so she could pick out her big girl panties, Red Mango (she got to pick any toppings she wanted ;D), and then her first ever movie at the theater! We caught Planes: Fire and Rescue and she loved it. Good message and animation, and since it has been out for a while, she could wiggle around without disturbing anyone because it was pretty empty. A lovely, fall date.

Callie was one of my private art students - and we LOOOOOOOVE our Callie. I'd say the feeling is mutual :)

Happy October!
We are ready to be a family of four. Can't wait to meet our little Milo.
